Scholarship are gifts.\u00a0 They don’t need to be repaid. \u00a0Students are encouraged to apply for national, state, regional and community scholarships.\u00a0 There are thousands of them, offered by colleges, employers, individuals, private companies, nonprofits, ethnic groups, religious groups, and professional and social organizations. \u00a0Scholarships are awarded based on merit, ethnic background, community service, leadership, school activities and personal interests. \u00a0Colleges often offer scholarship money.\u00a0 Check out the financial aid office from the colleges you are applying to.\u00a0 Make sure you talk to college representatives, admission counselors and specific departments in the college (e.g. music, biology departments).\u00a0 Sometimes the application for scholarships may be different from the admission applications.\u00a0\u00a0

Scholarships listed on the WashBoard.org are diverse and support a wide variety of student interests and accomplishments.  Over half of the scholarships are not based on financial need.  Many of the scholarships listed are renewable, which means you may be eligible for continued scholarship funding as you continue your educations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
