Even though the Class of 2020 didn’t get to participate in its final FFA State competition this spring, the past three-plus years of FFA involvement and competition showed the success of the class.
“We have some amazing seniors,” says Tammy Brandvold, one of three FFA advisors, along with John Grubbs and Ladd Shumway.
The FFA members who stand out the most, according to the advisors, are Rafe Wolfisberg, Sara Thomas, Dillon DeJong and Grant Heeringa. “All of these seniors have been very involved in FFA during their four years of high school,” Brandvold says.
Wolfisberg and DeJong, also the past two FFA presidents for Lynden High School, both competed at the national level and all four have been on teams or in individual contests that placed in the top eight in the state at some point during their high school FFA careers.
“Rafe, Dillon and Sara have all served as FFA officers at one time or another,” Brandvold says. “Grant, Rafe and Sara have all shown animals at the Northwest Washington Fair. Each of these seniors really have been able to demonstrate high quality service and leadership during their time in FFA. We will dearly miss them.”
