Students Planning for College

College leaders in eight states believe students who score well on Smarter Balanced tests and take challenging courses throughout high school will enter college ready to succeed. All of Washington’s public higher education institutions have agreed to allow students who score a level 3 or level 4 on Smarter Balanced tests to enroll directly in entry-level credit-bearing courses once they are admitted (as a sign of college readiness).

Practice and Training Tests
The Smarter Balanced Practice and Training Tests provide students with a preview of test questions aligned to academic standards for grades 3-8 and high school in both English language arts/literacy and math.

The Practice Test is available in each grade and is in a similar format and structure to the actual test. The Training Test is available in three grade bands (3-5, 6-8, and high school) and provides a sample of each kind of question students might encounter.
